Short Reviews for Long Games: Bravely Default

Standard

I won’t mince words with you here, I am a lover of Japanese Role-Playing Games and I have ever since I watched my brother playing Final Fantasy 7 all those years ago. Now playing through Bravely Default I finally feel that excitement and wonder I haven’t felt since those earlier days.

Bravely Default, isn’t changing the role-playing game formula, but it’s taking that formula and changing it for the better. The brave and default features being the biggest changes, adding a element of risk and reward to battle. Then we have all the options the game gives you, heck you can even turn all battles except for story battles off completely. Also the world that the game is set in feels new even with many trappings of the past (such as the story element of crystals), and that’s
thanks to its great characters, sound design, and art style.

Now I could go on and on with how much I love this game, but I think it’s better to keep this short and just say that if you have ever been a fan of JRPG’s or maybe just have a interest in checking one out, then make sure you pick this game up right away!

Bravely Default for the Nintendo 3DS gets a 9.5 out of 10, and I consider it a must buy for anyone wanting to finally play a great JRPG again!

Final Fantasy 14 fan events scheduled for fall!!

Standard

Early yesterday morning on the official website for the fantasy MMO, Final Fantasy 14, it was announced that fan events for the game will be held in three separate cities in October thorough November of 2014.

Though at this time that’s all they were willing to say on the subject of the actually dates, they did announce which cities the events will be taking place. The venues will be held in the cities of Las Vegas, London, and finally Tokyo.

Sad these fan events are only scheduled for three cities, it is nice to see that Final Fantasy 14 has gained so much popularity and has pretty much rebuilt a franchise that has been on the decline for such a long time. I shall update the blog with more information on this event as we get closer to the fall.

Games for Gold April 2014: Some rumors turn out to be truths

Standard

Hello all you beautiful people! To continue on from yesterday on the rumored first game of April’s Games for Gold program being 2012’s Hitman: Absolution, it has turned out to be true.

Starting tomorrow, April 1st to April 15, Hitman: Absolution will be free to all Xbox 360 users with an active gold account. Also revealed today is the second free game, which will be available starting April the 15th through the 30th, is the Xbox Live Arcade 2D zombie game, Deadlight.

Honestly not the greatest lineup compared to the Playstation Plus free games for April, but it finally seems like Microsoft is starting to give out games that people might actually want to play through. Until next time everybody, I’m the Moth Man and I am out of here!
